‘Sad Skater’ t-shirt in Pistachio is part of our second collection. This is designed by artist Ash Fields of ‘Our Tiny Windows’. Ash is well known for his window artwork, however he is also a very talented painter, musician, and illustrator. He has recently worked with Dan Jones, author of Essex Dogs, to design the characters from the book. These designs were painted onto Waterstones stores around the country (UK) to promote the book, as well as made into a series of posters available with the book. Ash describes his artwork as showing obscure characters in beautiful frames. He likes to work with patterns and colour, taking inspiration from Gustav Klimt and Alphonse Mucha. 

Ash’s initial idea came from a sketch he drew with his finger in his notes app on his phone of the ‘I’m Fine’ T-shirt. Taking that as his starting point, he elaborated on it to create this design. He really likes the simple text with image motif, that gets across an idea people can relate to. He wanted to touch on something related to mental health and the imperfection of being human. The character clearly isn’t fine – we know it, he knows it.  We know that being open and honest about our feelings is the best way, however sometimes we are unable to be our best and all we can muster is sulky and sarcastic. Ash feels the design is relatable and funny, and we need to stop pretending that everything is always awesome. Feeling shit can be normal and is sometimes part of someone’s every day. It great to have a T-shirt that embraces that.

The Tee is heavy weight 280 GSM 100% carded cotton. Built to last with neck ribbing, side seams, shoulder-to-shoulder tape, and double needle hems, plus preshrunk fabric for minimal shrinkage when washing. The design is digital printed direct to fabric on the back of the tee. The Super Ultra Cool logo is screen printed over the heart on the front, and the inside back collar has the advised washing instructions to keep the garment in best condition for as long as possible.
